Challenge A global energy player in the electricity, natural gas and energy industry sought to improve efficiency and reduce costs through integration and realignment of the Europe-wide IT organization and related processes. The PPM offices are responsible for the overall IT project portfolio and project governance in the EU. Budget planning is done via business initiatives and projects are delivering results. Approach GET Excellence helped to reorganize the IT with respect to efficiency and effectiveness. This included the unbundling of locally distributed IT functions, restructuring, IT & business architecture alignment as well as increasing the efficiency of the IT services. The restructuring concept allowed foreseeing the reduction of costs by using the synergies belonging to a large IT business unit. The IT governance managed the portfolio and project overviews for multiple lines of businesses and IT suppliers. Result The IT architecture and project execution were successfully aligned. Over 2000 projects / change requests per year were dealt with. |
